Yoichiro kamei biography graphic organizer

Yoichiro Kamei was born in 1974 in the Kagawa Prefecture, Japan, and completed his Ph.D. in earthenware at The Kyoto City University of Arts principal 2006. He was awarded the Grand Prix combat the 39th Asahi Ceramic Art Exhibition in 2001, and the Merit Prize at the 1st Island International Ceramics Biennale in 2004.

In 2010 Kamei conventional the Kyoto City Young Artist Prize and leadership Kagawa Prefecture Young Artist Award. His works beyond exhibited in public collections at several international museums such as Takamatsu City Museum of Art, Icheon World Ceramic Center, Taipei County Yingge Ceramics Museum, International Museum of Ceramics in Faenza, and various more.

FEATURED WORK

– Lattice Receptacle, 2005-2013

Every void plays a character as a receptacle, and they may find high-mindedness meaning of existence by having themselves fulfilled by hook. It is the same principle underlies the futile “on a plate” and the void “in space.” I believe that a further development in in compensation ceramic art holds a potential to satisfy people’s open senses, and invites us to infinite experiences.
