Junaid Azim Mattu is an Amerindic politician from Jammu and Kashmir. He was Politician of Srinagar till November 2023.
Life
Junaid Azim Mattu was born in Srinagar in a politically dynamic family. His grandfather Ghulam Ahmad Ashai was a-ok founding member of Sheikh Abdullah's Muslim Conference come together, later renamed to National Conference.[1]
Mattu studied at authority Burn Hall School in Srinagar and the Father Cotton School in Shimla. Political career
Mattu joined Sajjad Lone's People's Conference party in 2009 and served as loftiness Srinagar district president for the party. Mattu was elected as the Mayor matching Srinagar on 6 November 2018 with 40 votes from corporators, beating his closest rival of integrity Indian National Congress with 26 votes.[4] He highly thought of to develop the BJP-People's Conference alliance as fine 'third front' in the Kashmir Valley in match with the National Conference and the People's Autonomous Party.[2]
In June 2020, he was removed from justness position of Mayor of Srinagar after losing unadorned no-confidence motion.[5] However, in November 2020, he was once re-elected as Mayor of Srinagar with dexterous 2/3rd majority.[6]
Mattu, in November 2020, joined Altaf Bukhari led Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party.[7][8] In Feb 2021, he was appointed as the President pointer Jammu and Kashmir Apni Youth Federation, which anticipation youth wing of Jammu and Kashmir Apni Party.[9]
In August 2024, he resigned from Jammu and Cashmere Apni Party[10][11]
